Algeria is the second largest country on the African continent. Most of the coastal area is hilly, sometimes even mountainous, and there are a few natural harbors. Algiers, Oran and Constantine are the main cities. The fossil fuels energy sector is the backbone of Algeria\\\'s economy.

On the Mediterranean Sea Algeria is the largest country while in continent Africa Algeria is the second largest country. According to the area it is occupied Algeria is the eleventh largest country of the world.

Northeast: Tunisia
East: Libya
Southeast: Niger
Southwest: Mali and Mauritania
North: Mediterranean Sea.

It is covering total 2,400,000 kilometer square area, its total population is 35,000,000. Algiers is the capital city of Algeria.

Algeria is a permanent member of several international organizations such as Arab League, United Nations, African Union and OPEC. The coastal areas of Algeria is hilly and mountains are also present in some areas. The main and important cities of Algeria are Algiers that is the capital of Algeria, Oran, Annaba and Constantine. Sahara Dessert is present in the south of Algeria.

Climate
Near coastal areas rainfall occurs more frequently while in dessert areas temperature remains very hot during daylight and in the evening and during nigh times weather changes and becomes cold.

Politics
President is declared as the head of the state in Algeria. President is elected for five years. Prime minister is appointed by the president, Prime minister is the head of the government.

Army
Algerian army is consisted of People's National Army, Algerian National Navy, Algerian Air Force and Territorial Air Defense Force.

Religion
Islam is the state religion in Algeria. Sunni sect is dominated as it is the majority in Algeria.

Administrative Divisions
There are 48 administrative provinces in Algeria, that are further divided into small districts and these districts have further divisions that are called municipalities.

Education
Algeria has 43 universities, 10 colleges and 7 institutes for higher education.
