Ankara koleji is a private school in Ankara, Turkey. It was founded in 1928 by Turk Egitim Dermegi (Turkish Educational Association)which is known as TED.Ankara koleji quickly became popular among the elite of the young republic. Ismet Inonu was the second president of Turkey. He was also the first chairman of Turkish Education Association (TED). The school's emblem reflects the history of its funding with the crescent moon from the national flag, the torchas a symbol of education embraced by the association and five stars to show gratitude and respect to the five original administrative committee members. TED Ankara koleji was the first school established by the foundation in 1930 and the first private Turkish school using English as the medium of instruction. In 1963 the school's administration was placed under the TED Ankara College foundation. Today TED Ankara College is a continually developing family with more than 5,500 students, 530 teachers, 230 employees and 2,600 alumni. One of the best schools in pre-college level education, TED Ankara Koleji is also known with its basketball tradition.
