BAKU
Baku is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan. It is also known by other names such as Baqy, Baky, Baki or Baku. It is the largest port of Azerbaijan. It is located on the southern coast of the Absheron Peninsula.
Basically Baku is divided into two major parts; one is Old Inner City while other one is the downtown city.
Administrative divisions
Baku has eleven administrative raions and 48 townships. On the stilts of Caspian Sea Oil Rocks town is located while Baku Bay is located on the Islands.
Heritage City:
Baku contains Palace of Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower, which are classified as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Several Heritage sites of Baku are declared as in danger.
Weather
Baku has moderate climatic conditions such as summer season is warm and humid while winter season is cool and wet. Ocean weather conditions have a great influence on the climate of Baku. Mud volcanoes and salt lakes are present in the vicinities of the Baku.
Culture and Religion
Baku has a great cultural diversity dude the presence of Russian, American and Jewish population. Above 90% people practices Islam, Christianity is practiced by 4% population. Jewish are also present in Baku.
Economy and Education
Baku economy mainly relies on the Petroleum. Baku has an international airport that serves Azerbaijan while with in the city Metro service provides transportation services.
