Bulgarian Tourism
Bulgarian tourism as an industry, has been an important source of economic growth. While in 2006 Bulgaria was hosted an estimated 6 million foreign tourists, in 2007 that number was increased to 7-8 million. Bulgaria is a country with a historical and cultural heritage, and attractive natural landscapes, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Europe. The Bulgarian summer resorts along the Black Sea coast include destinations, such as the summer resorts: Sozopol, Nessebur, Golden Sands, Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, Albena and St. St. Constantine & Helena. Winter tourist centers, such as Borovetz, Bansko, Pamporovo and Vitosha are picturesque and popular ski resorts. The country has historical cities and towns, summer beaches, and mountain ski resorts. New types of tourism, including cultural, architectural and historic tours, eco-tourism, and adventure tours, expand the range of services available to visitors. Some guests, such as the Germans, Russians or Scandinavians favor the summer beach resorts, while winter tourism, and the ski resorts, are the favorites of the British.With there newly granted entry into the European Union on the 1st January 2007, Bulgaria is now considered as one of the fastest growing tourism markets in the new and extended European Union. Many shopping malls have emerged in the capital Sofia and in other towns and cities across Bulgaria, The inflow of foreign investment has helped a lot to revive the Bulgarian economy, while youngsters share they feel happy about the change and the increasing opportunities to travel or study abroad in prestigious universities
