Clifton is a neighboring area of Saddar town of Karachi. Saddar is the oldest and largest shopping center of Karachi city. Clifton situated in the Southern area of Saddar town. Clifton is reserved for the elite class of Karachi and only rich and popular people afford to live at Clifton. This area is reserved for the upper class since the freedom of Pakistan. Clifton beach is located on the south of Clifton area and that is the famous beach of Pakistan.
IMPORTANT AND POPULAR SITES OF CLIFTON
Shrine of a Muslim saint and Sufi Abdullah Shah Ghazi is the most popular site of Karachi and it lies in the Clifton, everyday thousands of people visit the shrine.
Jehangir Kothari Parade, which was built in 1922, is located on the beach and besides it there is a Katrak Bandstand and Lady Loyd Peir.
Bagh-e-Ibne Qasim that is recently build by the city district government of Karachi. It is commonly called as Bin Qasim Park by the local people.
Mohatta Palace was the residence of Quaid e Azam's Sister Fatima Jinnah and Shireen Jinnah. This last residence has now taken a place of museum as it has converted into a museum.
Teen Talwar (three swords) and Do Talwar (two swords) are the important and very famous landmarks of Karachi city.
Boat Basin Park is also a very famous park of Clifton area and so many restaurants and food courts are the part of Boat basin area.
Clifton area holds great importance because the former prime minister and president of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's residence on 70 Clifton road, later on during the imprisonment of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto his daughter was kept under house arrest. Later on Benazir Bhutto elected as a prime minister of Pakistan. Mir Muratza Bhutto was murdered on the 70 Clifton Road. Clifton is a very busy area of Karachi; it contains lots of expensive shopping centers of Karachi. Only rich can afford these shopping centers. Most of the famous shopping centers are located at teen talwar and some are near the Shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi. Gul Shopping Mall is the most famous shopping mall that is located on teen talwar. It contains clothing stuff and other stuff such as jewelry, shoes etc from low price to higher prices. Other shopping malls include Uzma shopping center, Ashiana, Forum, Park towers, Chen one. These shopping malls and centers are the sophisticated shopping areas of Karachi and very popular among sophisticated people.
