Defence Housing Authority came into being on 2nd July 1999, it was approved first through a Provincial Ordinance and finally through Federal DHA order of 19th September 2002. It was established to upgrade the pre-existing Lahore cantt cooperative housing society and Lahore Defence housing society replaced LCCHS. Lahore cantt cooperative housing society(LCCHS) was established in 1975 on 19 March but later on due to some internal rivalries it was converted into DHA by high court.
Defence Housing Authority Lahore also called DHA Lahore is administered by Pakistan Army to develop housing for its current and retired personnel.
