Dhaka City is the capital of Bangladesh. It is the principal city of Dhaka district. Dhaka is located on the banks of Buriganga River. It is one of the most populous cities in the world. Dhaka City was known as Jahangir Nagar in Mughal Rule in 17th century. Modern Dhaka is the center of political, cultural and economic life in Bangladesh. In recent decades, Dhaka has seen modernization of transport, communications and public works. Dhaka is attracting considerable foreign investment and greater volumes of commerce and trade. It is also experiencing an increasing influx of people from across the nation. Dhaka city is world famous for its mosques and rickshaws. It is the cultural, economical and educational center of Bangladesh. It is well recognized for its cultural activities and trade in the region. It hosts the modern infrastructure in the country that is very rare in other parts of the country.
