Ecuador has three main regions, plus an insular region in the Pacific Ocean. Because of its three mainland regions, Ecuador\'s climate cannot be generalized. Ecuador does not experience variations in daylight hours during the course of a year because of its location at the equator. It is one of 17 mega diverse countries in the world according to Conservation International.

Ecuador contains great biodiversity, so many rare avian, animals and plant species exists in Ecuador. The birth site of Darwin Theory of Evolution exists in Ecuador in the Galapagos Island, this island is declared as the World heritage site by the UNESCO. Ecuador economy mainly relies on its natural resources and agricultural products. Natural resources of Ecuador includes gold, shrimp, fish, petroleum, timber etc. While agricultural products are cacao, flowers, bananas, sugar, tropical fruits, palm oil, corn and palm hearts. Roman Catholics are the majority in Ecuador while others are Protestants. Foot ball is the most popular sport in Ecuador. There are 61 universities in Ecuador and approximately 300 higher institutes offers vocational and technical training in several fields.
