Indian Air force

  

The Indian Air Force has the prime responsibility of conducting aerial warfare and securing the Indian airspace. It was established on October 8, 1932 as the Indian Air Force.

 

INDIAN AIR FORCE

 

Indian Air force is the part of the Indian armed forces and it is responsible for the protection of Indian airspace. Indian Air force was actually came into being in the year 1932 and after the great services of Indian air force during the World War II the prefix Royal was added to the Indian air force in the year 1945. This prefix Royal was dropped after 1947 as India became independent and got freedom from East India Company. Indian air force is currently stands as the world's fourth largest air force, there are 170, 000 active personnel in Indian air force and it is well equipped with the 1, 130 fighter and 17, 00 non-fighter air crafts. Recently, Indian air force worked out to increase its strength by the addition of more than 100 jet fighters.

 

History of Indian Air force

 

Indian air force took part in the World War II against Japan and accomplished several strike missions against Japanese armed forces. In 1947, in the result of great of independence war in Sub Continent India and Pakistan came into being. As a result of this separation armed forces were also divided into two parts such as one was Royal Indian Air Force while other one was Royal Pakistan Air force. During the war of independence Indian Air force strike against Kashmiri mujhaids to stop and suppress their protest and Indian Air force also occupied Kashmir. At the time of Belgium's colonial rule in the Congo, Belgium failed to suppress and control the deterioration in its ex African colony and due to this Belgium knocked the gate of United Nations for help. At this crucial time of need India was the first member of United Nation that respond immediately to help out Belgium being the part of United Nation. India provided Canberra Bomber Air crafts for the assistance. After Sino-India war Indian air force took part into the war against Pakistan. Indian air force stroke against Pakistani air force with full efforts and power. After 1965 Indian air force grew up and modernized and then the time came when Indian air force checked and tested its modern fighting equipment against Pakistan during the Liberation war of Bangladesh Indian air force stroke against Pakistan on siachin conflict. In 1988 Indian air force assisted Maldives government and military for the restoration of government rules in the Maldives and suppress the militancy that was provoked by People's Liberation Organization of Tamil Ealam, this operation was named as Operation Cactus. During Kargil that was carried out between India and Pakistan Indian air force took part. During Atlantique incident that was underwent in the year 1999 Indian army shot dead Pakistani navy French built naval breguet Atlantic that cross the Indian's ran of katch area.  Marshal of the Indian air force that is conferred by the Indian president is the highest rank of Indian air force. The Chief if air staff is declared as the head of the air force. There are more than 60 airbases that are being operated under the Indian Air Force. Some major airbases are as follows:

  • Western Air Command
  • Eastern Air Command
  • Central Air Command
  • Southern Western Air Command
  • South Air Command

Indian Air force is fully equipped with the latest and modern air crafts that make the Indian Air force one of the best air force among the world's air forces. Indian air force contains Air superiority and multi-role combat aircraft, Strike, attack and offensive support aircraft, Reconnaissance and Airborne Early Warning aircraft, Transport aircraft, Support helicopters and training air crafts. Upcoming air crafts includes: Medium Multi-role Combat Aircraft, Mirage 2000-5, Hawk AJT, MiG 29, C130 J Hercules, Light Helicopters, Medium Lift Helicopters, Attack Helicopters, Heavy Lift Helicopters, and VIP Helicopters.
