Islamabad Higher Education Commission
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been set up by the Government of Pakistan to facilitate the development of indigenous universities to be world-class centers of the education, research and development. Through facilitating this process, the HEC intends to play its part in spearheading the building of a knowledge-based economy in Pakistan. The Higher Education Commission's main purpose is to upgrade the Universities of Pakistan to be world class centers of education, research and development. The HEC is also playing a leading role towards building a knowledge based economy in Pakistan by giving out hundreds of doctoral scholarships for education abroad every year.
