Karachi grammar school is a private type co educational and English medium school of Karachi. It is the oldest school of the Pakistan while second oldest of the sub continent India. Karachi grammar school was founded by the first Chaplain of Karachi “Reverend H. Brereton “in 1847. The purpose to establish this school was to educate Anglo Indian and English children. The strength of students at KGS remained very small till 1940 but in the last two decades it has been improved and reached to thousands of students. With the increasing number of students number of KGS campuses also increased and currently three campuses are working across Karachi. KGS is best in education in Pakistan. Its students are trained and prepared to pass Advanced level examination, university of Cambridge international examinations GCE, ordinary level and advanced subsidiary level. The subjects that are being taught at KGS are biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, computer studies, computing, Pakistan studies, Urdu, Islamic studies, English literature, economics, accounting, business management, world history, studio art etc.
KGS holds several extracurricular activities in which students participate, these activities includes sports day, annual concerts, drama festivals. Debate competition is the most popular activity as many students of KGS also represented Pakistan in the World’s school debating championship. Extracurricular societies are also the part of KGS, students can join journalism society, The young leaders society, The elocutus, The economics society, The mathematics society, The director’s cut, The drama council, The reader’s bar and so on.
KGS also raise funds through organizing concerts and bake-sales; this activity is running by the famous society of KGS that is Helpers Society. There are four different campuses working in Karachi, one is located at Saddar, others are at Boat basin, Clifton and Khayaban e Saadi.
