NED University of Engineering and Technology is the largest University of engineering and technology of Pakistan not only the largest but also it is the oldest engineering and technology University of Pakistan. NED University of Engineering and Technology is located adjacent to the University of Karachi. The main objective of this university is to train engineer professionals for the industrial and technological industries of Pakistan. It is a high standard university of Pakistan and it is very difficult to get admission in it. NED University is well recognized and recommended by the HEC (Higher Education Commission). NED University was established in the honor of British Prince, in 1921 during the Britain rule. The first and past name of NED University was Prince of Wales Engineering college but later in 1924 this name was changed and it became Nadirshah Edulji Dinshaw. NED University was under the control of Britain rule but right after the independence government of Sindh, Pakistan took the charge of NED University. Before becoming the part of Sindh government management it was affiliated with University of Bombay, University of Sindh and University of Karachi. NED University is currently offering 4- year Bachelors of Engineering in twenty one(21) different fields of modern engineering and technology, Master of Engineering (M.Eng) and PhD programs.

NED university is the largest university of engineering and technology of pakistan not only the largest but NED is one of the famous and oldest university of pakistan. before the creation of pakistan this university was founded as prince of wales eng: college & in 1924 this university was renamed as NED engineering college and after the creation of pakistan govt of sindh took over the managment of the college and renamed as NED govt engineering college and in 1977 this university was established and became university as NED university of engineering and Technology this university starts from enrolment of 50 students now more than 6000 students are undergraduate & postgradute

NED University is no doubt the best engineerig institution we had in Pakistan, and I hope it is still so,it reminds me my First year of engineering,when it was a college just behind the D J Science college Karachi.We had the honour to get it with the name NED University and shifted from college building to new campus where it exist now. One can imagine how those difficult days were,when we started classes there wthout adequate facilities of class rooms & transportation etc......I passed out in 1979.
