Karachi Port Trust
Karachi Port Trust or KPT is an official Federal agency of Pakistan Government. It oversees Karachi port operations at Karachi. It is located at Karachi that is the biggest city of Pakistan. Karachi port trust started working in April 1887 and before its effectiveness it was established under the ACT IV in 1886. During the years 1880 and 1887 it was controlled by the Karachi Harbour Board. Board of Trustee administer and control the Karachi port trust. This board of Trustee consists of a Chairman and group of 10 individuals who are Trustee. Federal Government elects the chairman who is the chief executive of Karachi port trust. The other 10 trustee are equally divided into two groups one group consists of 5 trustees who are from public sector while the other 5 are private sector representatives. Federal government elects and nominate public trustee. Private trustees are elected by the private sector organizations. Current Chairman of Karachi port trust is Nasreen Haque while the duty of General Manager of operations is performed by the Rear Admiral Azhar Hayat SI (M).
