Lahore is the second largest city of Pakistan. Lahore is usually called as the Heart of Pakistan. It is also usually called as land of five rivers, as it is located near Ravi River. Lahore is the capital of Punjab that is the largest province of Pakistan regarding population. Lahore has many attractions in it for tourists, as it has the great historical heritage of Mughals, who built many historical building in Lahore in their rules, in which Lahore Fort, Shalimar garden and Badshahi masjid are one of those buildings that shows Mughal’s history. Mausoleums of Noor jahan and Emperor Jahangir are also remarkable heritage.
In 1940 Mulim League, which was led by Quaid e azam urged British government to separate Hindustan, they passed Lahore resolution or also called Pakistan resolution, in the memory of this event Meenar e Pakistan was built in Lahore. At that time Quaid-e-Azam proposed theory of Two Nation. Lahore’s border meets India ‘s border, at Wahaga border.
Climate of Lahore has four colors of season, from May to July whether is extreme while from December to February whether remains cold, by the start of August, monsoon falls and heavy rainfall starts. The popular places for shopping in Lahore are: Anarkali is popular for bangles, leather stuff, jewelry, embroidered cloths, Rang Mahal is the largest fabric wholesale market in Punjab Province, and others are Liberty market, Hafeez market.
Lahore is also famous for the food and eating stuff. Food streets of Anarkali, Gawalmandi and Badshahi are very popular among the tourists and also Lahori people love going there and enjoying their favorite traditional foods. Western food chains are also very popular in Lahore like McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Dunkin Donuts etc.
Lahore is the capital of education of Pakistan; it has a large number of colleges and universities. Punjab University is the oldest university of Pakistan; National college of Arts (NCA) is also a very popular and oldest college of Pakistan regarding arts studies. Lahore University of management science is also an authentic institute of Pakistan regarding business and commerce education.
In 1997, Motorway was inaugurated from Lahore to Islamabad; Lahore city has great number of underpasses in Pakistan. Lahore Central Railway Station, has historical background, it was built during the British colonial area. In 2003 in Lahore city, Allama Iqbal airport was built.
Lahore city is the cultural place, every year by the start of spring Lahori people celebrate Basant event, Mela Chraghan is also celebrated during Basant. Eid-ul-Fiter, Eid-ul-Adha and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W) are the Islamic biggest events which being celebrated every year with great happiness and enthusiasm. The National Horse and cattle show is also a big event of Lahore. 14 August, Independence Day is celebrated and on 6 September Defense day is celebrated.
