University of engineering and technology Lahore or UET was established in the year 1921. Previously this university started working as Mughalpura Technical College, right after two years in the year 1923 it was renamed as Mclagan Engineering College.
Brief History of UET Lahore It was renamed on the name of the governor of Lahore, who announced to build the main block of this institute. At early stages this institute was providing engineering education only about two fields of engineering that are mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. In 1932 this institute got affiliation with University of Punjab for awarding degree in above mentioned disciplines. At the time of partition of India and Pakistan this institute was the degree awarding institute that was awarding B.Sc degree in electrical, mechanical and civil engineering.
Degrees Offered at UET Lahore This institute is the pioneer institute that introduced mining engineering in Pakistan, this was done in 1954. After that this institute was turned into the "West Pakistan University Engineering and technology" and after that this university started offering degree courses in petroleum& gas engineering, city and regional planning, Architecture, Metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering etc. Later this university also started its Master's degree programs ion the above mentioned disciplines. Due to the large number of students UET established a college in Taxila that college got the status of University later on. Three news campuses of UET are in pipeline; soon they will start working in adjacent cities or areas of Lahore.
