Nairobi UniversityThe University of Nairobi is commonly called as UON it is not only the largest university of Kenya but also it is a historical university. It was founded in the year 1956 but till 1970 it was working under the administrative authority of university of East America. When university of East America was split into three different Divisions University of Nairobi came independent. The other two universities are: University of Dra es Salaam in Tanzmania and Makerere University in Uganda. By the year 2002, there was 22,000 students that are enrolled at the University among them 17, 000 was enrolled at undergraduate programs while rest of the others are enrolled at postgraduate programs. The module 2 degree programs were introduced to fulfill the need of higher education in Kenya.

Brief History University of Nairobi was initially started functioning as a college named Royal Technical College this college was converted into the second university college of East Africa named as Royal College Nairobi. Then it became affiliated with the University of London. Later on it was renamed as University College Nairobi and it became affiliated with the University of East Africa, later on it was converted into the independent university of Kenya.
