Niger
It is a landlocked country in western Africa. Niger is named after the Niger River. The land is mostly desert plains and dunes, with rolling Savannah in the southeast. The capital city is Niamey. It is an administrative, cultural and economic center. The city is located in a pearl millet growing region, while manufacturing industries include bricks, ceramic goods, cement and weaving.

Niger's subtropical climate is mainly very hot and dry, with much desert area. In the extreme south there is a tropical climate in the edges of the Niger River. Niger is the poorest country in the world, running last on the United Nations Development Program's Human Development Index. Niger's economy centers on subsistence crops, livestock, and some of the world's largest uranium deposits.
