Oman's economic performance improved significantly in 1999 due largely to the mid-year upturn in oil prices. Agriculture and fishing are the traditional way of life in Oman. Dates and limes make up most of the country's agricultural exports. Poultry production is steadily rising. The government is undertaking many development projects to modernize the economy and improve the standard of living.
