The Colosseum Kino was established as a public company in 1921. The Kino was the largest cinema of Scandinavia with 2100 seats.

The Colosseum Kino is the biggest cinema of Oslo city not only in Oslo but also it is the biggest cinema house of Northern Europe. It has a honor to be the world's largest THX cinema. Colosseum Kino is well identified due the spherical dome. Initially it was established as a public company in the year 1921. Later on in the year 1929 Norwegian government purchased Kino. Kino holds the credit to display the first color motion picture in Norway. In the year 1954 Kino became the first Norwegian that installed the Cinema scope format. Then gradually it was upgraded and it installed 70mm, three projector cine miracle system, THX sound etc. During the journey of success Kino faced several hurdles such as fire; construction work stooped the cinema etc.
