Oslo Sculpture Park

  

Vigeland Sculpture park is a well known picnic area, popular in the summer for sunbathing, games, and relaxation.

 

OSLO SCULPTURE PARK

 

Oslo is the capital of Norway. It has so many great parks for public and visitors. The largest park of Oslo city is Vigeland Sculpture Park that is located in the 3km away from the center of the city. Vigeland Sclupture park covers an area of 320,000 m2 . It has 212 granite and bronze sculptures that are created by Gustav Vigeland. All these sculptures are fixed along the 850 meter long axis that is divided into six sections. These sections include the main gate, the children playground, the fountain, the monolith plateau and the wheel of life.

 

The Main Gate Division

 

Granite' forged and Iron's wrought are the material used fir the manufacturing of main gate; main gate is the main opening and entrance of the Vigeland Park. The main gate contains five small gates that are used for different purposes.

 

The Bridge division

 

Bridge area of park contains 58 valuable sculptures. The bridge area interconnects the main gate with fountain of the park. The bridge contains sculptures that are made up of bronze and these all sculptures are made on the theme of the park that is "Human Condition".  One of the popular sculptures that is called "The little bad angry boy" reside in the bridge area of park. The bridge was the first amongst all the other areas of park that opened very first for the public.

 

The Children playground division

 

The children playground area lies at the end of the bridge area of the park. All sculptures are made up of bronze and all are featuring the children likeness. A fetus representing sculpture resides in the center of this area.

 

The Fountain division

 

The fountain is facing the parliament and it was actually built to face the parliament building. It is made up of bronze. In the fountain there are giant and huge trees and children and skeletons are under the arms of these trees. The fountain features that the new life comes from the death.

 

The Monolith Plateau division

 

The Monolith plateau contains stairs that contains the monolith totem. This area featuring the message "circle of life". The monolith is the highest point inside the area of park.

 

The Wheel of Life division

 

Wheel of life is the true symbol of eternity and it is featuring the entire theme of the Vigeland Park that is the journey of man from the cradle to the grave.
