University of Oslo is the biggest, oldest and considered as the most prestigious university of Norway. It is based in the capital of Norway that is Oslo. It is the most prestigious research University of Norway. It was established in the year 1811; it started functioning initially as The Royal Frederick University. It was named after the name of Norway and Denmark's King Frederick. This university was designed on the model of University of Berlin. The current name was conferred in the year 1939. There are more than 25, 000 students that are enrolled at university and approximately 4,000 working staff is associated with the university. There are nine faculties that are currently operating at university among them Law faculty is located in the old campus of the university. The other faculties are Theology, Dentistry, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Medicine, Humanities and Education. The University of Oslo was listed as the top university of Norway while 19th best university of Europe and according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities it was declared as the 69th best university of the world. There are four libraries in the university.
