It was established in 2002 and it founded by the owner and editor of the popular and largest newspaper group of Pakistan, Mi Shakil Ur Rehman. Geo TV network is the private type channel of Pakistan and its regular transmission was started in 2002, October.

Initially only Geo News channel was started but later on Geo Entertainment, Geo super, Aag channel was started. Geo TV is the fastest news channel of Pakistan. Geo TV set new and bold trends in the TV and media history of Pakistan, Geo TV was banned on 03, November 2007 due to emergency but later on the ban was lifted.
