Army Medical College Rawalpindi

Army medical college is located in Rawalpindi, it is Pakistan armed force medical institute that is running successfully by the National University of Sciences as it is a unit of National University of Sciences. It was founded in 1977. LT Gen (Retd) Ayub Khan established this college to produce trained and professional doctors for Pakistan army corps. Since its beginning it has been the best medical college of Pakistan and it is internationally recognized because of its best results. In 1998, first BDS program were initiated. Its vice chancellor's responsibility is done by the prime minister of Pakistan. While its current principal is Lt Gen Muhammad Asghar. Army medical college is offering 5 years MBBS program with one year of house job or internship. In the first two years basic and introductory courses are being taught that are Anatomy, Physiology, Histology and Biochemistry while from the third year of academic year medicine, surgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology and Gynecology and Obstetrics are being taught.

Likewise MBBS, dental students are divided into different categories such as Medical Dental Cadets, Additional Selected Dental Cadets, Paying Dental Cadets, Foreign Dental Students and NUST Dental Cadets. The criteria of selection for the MBBS or BDS enrollment are based on the basic military training and graduation. After passing BDS, graduates are selected or nominated on the captain rank as an officer.

It has 250 beds. This institute serves not only armed forces but also civilians. This institute is reserved for cardiology care only.

Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi

This hospital is equipped with 1200 beds and it contains 4 surgical units. It is well recognized by the UK General Medical Council for the post graduation programs and training in the field of surgery.  It has following departments:

Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Rawalpindi (AFIP Rawalpindi)

It is a very old institute at before partition this institute was serving as a command laboratory but right after the partition of India and Pakistan it had become Central Military Pathology Lab for armed force. It was revitalized as the institute of pathology. This institute is fully equipped with the latest and modern scientific machines and equipment.
