Suva lies on the Southern coastal area of the Island of Viti Levu in the central Division and serving as the administrative center of the Rewa Province.
Importance of Suva
Suva declared as the capital of Fiji in the year 1877. Suva is the largest populated city of the Fiji. Suva is the center of all commercial and political activities of Fiji. It is not only the largest urban area of the South Pacific outside of New Zealand and Australia but also it is the largest port city of Fiji.Suva is largely surrounded by the sea and the nearest beach that is very close to Suva just lies on the distance of 40km at Pacific Harbor. Suva receives heavy rainfall throughout the year.
Attractions of Suva
Suva city has several attractions for tourists and memorable buildings and places such as Carnegie Library that was constructed in the year 1909. Parliament building also exists in Suva. Government house that is the official residential place of the president of Fiji, University of South Pacific, once that also served as a New Zealand Military Base located in Suva. Suva also has the historical Fiji Museum, which was inaugurated in the year 1904.
Suva has a great cultural diversity, there are two major ethnic groups of Fiji that are found in Suva, and these are Indo-Fijians and Indigenous Fijians.

Chinese, Caucasians and Part-Europeans are the other minority ethnic groups in Suva. English is the most widely spoken and major communicating language in Suva while other communicating languages include Fijian, Hindustani, Cantonese and some Indian languages.

Suva has a municipal system which is led by the governor Lord Mayor. Governor works with a city council that consists on twenty members. Suva has an international airport that is named as Nausori International Airport.
