Table Formatting

Table formatting is easy and specification of table properties can be done by using properties inspector. The By using properties inspector, the modification of the specified values can be done at the time of table insertion. Simultaneously, others can be indicated as an Align value (it allows one to align the table to the left, middle or right position), the background color or the background image can be set.

For the determination and specification of the properties of a text, use the top of the properties inspection. The text properties will be added in the selected cell(s). The lower part is used to set the specification value for the each cell such as the color, background image, or the cell border color etc.

The most frequently used two options are the Horz and Vert. They define the content of the cell content either in horizontal or vertical way.

Cells and Table Sizes

It is already mentioned that the width of the table can be specified in Pixels or in percentages. The size of the table will be set by the properties inspector by setting the values of width and height. Normally height is not specified and only width is specified.

The width and height values of any cell can be defined in Pixels always. The size of the table cells can be determined by the properties inspector. You can also do this by holding the mouse on any order and dragging it to your desired position.

Eliminating and Inserting Rows and Columns

You can add or eliminate rows and columns by a variety of ways. First, place the cursor in a cell or select several of them, secondly, unfold the table contextual menu with right click on it. You can also do it by opening the Modify menu. In both procedures, the Table option will be appeared.
In order to add a row or column, click on the Insert row or Insert column option.

There is also a full advanced option for the insertion of rows and columns, the Insert rows or columns option. A new option will be displayed to you when you select this full advanced option. You can define the number of rows or columns.

If you want to remove a row or a column, place the cursor in the row or column which you want to delete. Select the Delete row or column from the table menu. You can also delete a row or column by pressing the DEL key.

Combining and dividing Cells

You can insert tables within tables. It is called the Nest tables.

Combine cells – involves the conversion two or more cells into just one. This will keep the separate border between the cells and they will appear as one.

Dividing cells involves the splitting of cells. You can use properties inspector to divide or combine the cells.
You can combine many cells by clicking this button   of the properties inspector. You can also combine many cells by using the Merge cells option from the Table option. You can access it by contextual menu of the table or through the Modify menu. Remember that it is the only possible way to join the adjacent cells, or by the combination which will take you to new cell.
In order to split a cell, click on the button   of the properties inspector. You can also do it by using the Split cell option of the Table menu. In both practice, a window will appear, in which you have to define whether the cell is going to be split by rows or by columns, and also the number of these.

Tables modes

Dreamweaver offers a variety of view modes to view the tables. You can select any mode of view by using the View menu and selecting the option of Table mode. You can select the Standard mode, the Expanded Tables mode, or the Layout mode. Layout view mode is used to make pages with a specified design based within the tables. Expanded Tables mode inserts the temporary filing and cell spaces in a table.
