UET TAXILA:
University of Engineering and Technology Taxila is situated in Taxila, Punajb, Pakistan. It is commonly called as UET Taxila, it was founded in the year 1979. Initially it was serving as a campus of UET Lahore but later it was granted the status of an independent University in Taxila in the year 1993. It is a public type university. UET Taxila is offering degree programs in the following major engineering fields:
ü Computer
ü Telecom
ü Software
ü Electrical
ü Civil
ü Mechanical
To accommodate the fast increasing number of UET Lahore, administrative body decided to establish new campus, initially the new campus started working in Sahiwal but later on in the year 1978 UET Lahore was permanently shifted to Taxila. Later in the year 1993, UET Taxila was declared as independent University by an ordinance.
Currently there are approximately 2700 students that are enrolled at UET Taxila.
UET Taxila lies at the distance of 5km from the main city of Taxila. University point service facilitates students from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Hasan Abdal and Wah. UET Taxila is covering an area of 0. 44km2.
University contains teachers and staff colony, Hostels, guest house, post office, dispensary, bank and teaching departments.
Currently the duties of Vice Chanceloor of UET Taxila are being performed by Prof. Dr, Habibullah Jamal.
Recently some new alterations have been done in the University campus that includes girl’s hostel, extension in the mechanical and electrical department buildings.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES:
Student Societies are also active part of the extra curricular activities of students, these are: IEEE UET Taxila Chapter, ACM UET Taxila Chapter, Engineering Students' Initiative founded by Taufeeq Elahi in 2005, Quaid-e-azam Debating Society, Al-Muhandis, Hostels Dramatic Society and Environmental Protection Society and quiad-e-azam debating society.
