Ulaanbaatar Declaration
It is a 25-points agreement between Mongolia and Russia that was signed in the year 2000. This agreement was signed as the reaffirmation of mutual relationship between Mongolia and Russia in political and economic matters.
Background of Ulaanbaatar Declaration
Mongolia and Russia have always been closer with each other since the communist era. Russian embassy is working in Mongolia with two consulate generals, while Mongolian embassy is also working in Russia with three consulate generals. After the establishment of new independent state in Russia, Mongolia continued its friendship with Russia with new developments and changes. Both of these countries were facing many difficulties in economy and politics, but these difficulties could not affect the relationship of these two countries. Russia and Mongolia agreed on a Joint Declaration of Cooperation and a bilateral trade agreement in the year 1991. Later in the year 1993, both of these countries again signed a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation that was to lay down the new grounds of equal relationship between these two countries. Later in the year 2000, Russian President during his visit to Mongolia signed the 25-point Ulaanbaatar Declaration as a remainder of the previous agreements.
