Bank of Valletta is the largest bank of Malta. Valletta is the capital city of Malta. Bank of Valletta is also the oldest bank of the country. In 1974 The Maltese Government established Bank of Valletta to take over the business of the National bank of Malta. The bank is also a founding member of Mediterranean Bank Network (MBN). In 1992, the Bank of Valletta became the first public company to be listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. In recent years Bank of Valletta has extended its range of personal, business and corporate banking, investment services, bank assurance, fund administration and fund services. These financial services are offered through a network of 45 branches and agencies in Malta and Gozo, and through a number of subsidiaries. The Bank of Valletta also developed a worldwide network of correspondent banks and has opened representative offices an Australia, Canada, Egypt, Italy, Libya and Tunisia. Through these networks, the Bank of Valletta has built the necessary backbone to service its customers in international banking and trade transactions.
