Vienna Airport is the largest and busiest airport of Austria. Vienna is the capital city of Austria. The Vienna International Airport located 18 kilometers southeast of Vienna.

Vienna international airport is located in the Southeast of Vienna on the distance of 11 miles (18 kilometers). Vienna is the largest, most busiest and private type airport of Vienna. As it is located near the town Schwechat so it is also called Schwechat. This airport can not only handle the large and giant or wide-body airplanes such as Airbus A340 but also it can handle Boeing 747. This airport is the base of Austrian Airlines. In the beginning this airport was built for the military use but in 1945 it went under the control of Britain, but this airport was converted into the principal airport of Vienna after the foundation of Betriebsgesellschaft in 1954. In the beginning this airport had only one runway. This airport has a great historical importance as it was used by the Pope John Paul II in his visit to Austria. Not only that but also this airport was used when Olympic teams and participants came to participate in the Winter Olympics.In December this airport became the victim of Palestinians attack.
Vienna international airport currently has three terminals. Among them there are two main terminals. Terminal 1A is used for the carriers of low-cost. SKYLINK is a terminal of Vienna airport that is using for giant and wide-body air crafts and higher volumes of passengers (up to 18 million). Terminal 1 is reserved for the Austrian airlines such as Partners and Star Alliance and Emirates flights. All the terminals of Vienna airport are handled and operated by the handling of FraportViennaAirport, Austrian airlines and Swissport. There are 20 boarding gates in this airport.
There are 3 concourses in this airport that are divided in 3 halls. Hall A is reserved for International Flights, Gates A1-A8 are for only Jetbridges, gates A10-A19 and A44-A50 are for only buses. Hall B is reserved for only Europe Flights with the gates B22-B43. Hall C is reserved for only partial international and Europe flights with gates C51-C62, C55-C61, C71-C75. For transportation from airport to the city of Vienna there is train link that directly joins the airport to the Wien Mitte station, this is known as City Airport Train. Buses are also available for the transportation of passengers. A master plan was created to re-expand the largest airport of Vienna city. With these new plan new towers, another runway and a railway station will be built.
